Knit n' that

Been a busy week, I can hardly believe it's almost over. I swear, where does time go! LOL Now I sound like every other old person. Must be showing my age : ) A busy week-end ahead too, don't think I will be home much. We are leaving a week from today for our first camping trip of the season. I am so excited I could pee my pants! I might just get a chance to sit and stitch, for then 10 minute intervals! I also don't think DH gets a day off until then either, guess he's looking forward to it as well : ) Only downer is that Z can't join us the first two nights, he has to work. He always leaves things until the last minuet and didn't ask for the time and someone else will already be gone. So DH will have to drive back down and pick him up Sat afternoon (half day of work for him) and pick him up, so he can at least spend Mother's day with me. The only up here is that he will be home to take care of the pet's and won't have to kennel them (down side to having handicapped pets = no one wants to pet sit) and will save money. Oh and guess what I am getting for Mothers Day? A hot water tank for the RV. Yeah, ours cracked and it cost hubby $100 to get it repaired. I guess it's fair since I said I wanted to camp for mother's day and I am like the main person to use the RV bathroom : )

Well I found a will model for my wrist warmers, twin dd E ~

They fit her good, I think I will use bigger needles to make adult sizes

These are pretty easy to make, just tedious knitting in the round the whole time

I think I will try these in some of my novelty yarn, then they will be fashion statements and not just useful!

Here is another random pet pic to amuse you

Checking in . . .

Sorry it has been so long and that there are no cute pic's to accompany this post. Been a couple of long busy weeks, mostly health wise. First, the stomach flu went through our house and hit everyone eventually in a two week span ~ yuck.

Then big son Z has been battling his chronic pain and made a couple trips to the ER and doc office. This time last year he almost died and when it was all over, the doc's said his chronic pain was probably CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome). In the past 14 months it has gotten steadily worse and now they are looking at FBS, or Fibromyalgia. Tonight he has an appointment with a neurologist, to see about his head pain. Z says it feels like millions of knives are being stuck in his brain, constantly :( We are again juggling his diet and all our energy seems to be focused on him. So exhausting. I hope we find some answers soon.

On a brighter note: We bought a new desk top and I am blogging from it right now! I am loving the 18" LCD screen, very easy on my bad eyes (swear the eye doc is going to give quad focals next). It is also refreshing to not have it shutting down on me every 7-8 minutes or so, makes checking email a tad faster when not constantly rebooting : ) Now I just have to move some files, pic's and ect. from one machine to the other.

Other news: hubby found a great deal on a rotary mower for our yard. Will be nice not to have to scramble around for gas money all summer for our lawnmower, not to mention safer for the kids to use!

Nurishing Frugal Food

I had to ponder this awhile and then it hit me last night. I always make my own ranch dressing, but ran out last night. DH brought home a leading contender from the store after work, since we were already sitting down to dinner. Well, I almost gaged and brought it back up! It had been soooo long since I had salad dressing with corn syrup. I can't believe I used to happily use this food for my family and enjoy it daily! Never again! Here is my home made ranch dressing
recipe:
Non-dairy ranch dressing
1 cup Vegenaise or Nayonnaise
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon minced onion (or dry onion flakes)
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon Celtic sea salt (this is a must, anything else like the fine just doesn't taste right)
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon dill weed
Mix all the ingredients up and pour into a mason jar to keep in refrigerator.
If you would like to make this thicker for a veggie dip, just omit water.
NOTE: I am not a 100% vegetarian and the closes source of Vegenaise is over 30 miles away. I use and prefer (taste and budget wise) Smart Balance salad dressing.
